The Greenbrier Family YMCA is home to the Chesapeake YMCA Aquatics Team (CYAT) Our swim team is currently the largest developmental swim program at the YMCA level in greater Hampton Roads.

The swim team program puts an emphasis on broad participation rather than specialization which allows a competitive yet caring atmosphere in which youth can succeed and feel they are part of a team.

The program offers our youth the opportunity to engage in activities that develop character based on the five core values of the YMCA which are caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.

The purpose of our program is to be a foundation of learning for the youth in our community and has been successful for the past 15 years. Today our program serves over 105 swimmers ranging in age from 5-18 years old and ability levels from recent swim lesson graduates to National hopefuls. Participants agree that our program leaves each swimmer with the benefits of fundamental skills encouragement of lifetime involvement in physical activity and strengthened values of health, fitness, self-respect and respect for others.
