Welcome to the 2011-2012 CYAT/VYAC swimming season. We are delighted to offer top notch competitive swimming training from novices through to the national level. Our practice schedule can be found under 'swim groups' and any questions related to the team can be sent directly to the head coach at cyathc@yahoo.com.
The Greenbrier Family YMCA is home to the Chesapeake YMCA Aquatics Team (CYAT) Our swim team is currently the largest developmental swim program at the YMCA level in greater Hampton Roads.
The program offers our youth the opportunity to engage in activities that develop character based on the five core values of the YMCA which are caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
The purpose of our program is to be a foundation of learning for the youth in our community and has been successful for the past 15 years. Today our program serves over 100 swimmers ranging in age from 5-18 years old and ability levels from recent swim lesson graduates to National level athletes with AAAA times. Participants agree that our program leaves each swimmer with the benefits of fundamental skills, the encouragement of lifetime involvement in physical activity, and strengthened values of health, fitness, self-respect and respect for others.
Our coaches have over seventy years of combined experience and have coached at every level of swimming from YMCA, USA, through to the collegiate level.
